I hope you are enjoying our beautiful Northwest summer. With the recent heat wave we are starting to see buds on our plants so we are busy “taking the bud”. If you are unfamiliar with that phrase then careful read the cultural notes at the end of this email.
ECA PICNIC
On Saturday, August 10th at Noon we will hold our annual picnic at the home of Michael and Daniel. Be sure to bring a guest, your spouse or significant other. This will be a great opportunity for us to meet and thank those (our significant others) who directly and indirectly support ECA. Michael and Daniel have a beautiful property on the Snoqualmie River. This is also a great opportunity to see Michaels Chrysanthemum propagation operation. The picnic lunch will be provided by of ECA. Hope to see you all there!
Please RSVP by Friday 8/9/24 for the picnic the correct amount of food can be purchased. If there is any interest in carpooling please respond to this email.
ECA SHIRTS
There has been renewed interest in the ECA shirts that many of our club members have. So we are going accept orders for hunter green ECA hoodies, polo and long sleeved poly-cotton button up shirts. We will have samples and updated pricing at the August Picnic.

PUYALLUP FAIR
Historically ECA has participated in the fair floral competition at the Puyallup Fair. Below I have included entry information.
If you have some early blooms please consider taking them to the fair.
Fair dates – August 30th – September 22nd, 2024.
Exhibitor/Entry Online Registration is due by 10pm, Sunday, August 26th.

MISCELLANEOUS
As the cultural notes state, August is a major growing month. We will be discussing “taking the bud”- a new concept for our novice growers. We will also begin preparations for the 78th annual Evergreen Chrysanthemum Association mum show which will be held November 1st – 3rd at Volunteer Park Conservatory.
