Hi All,
Just a friendly reminder….
So much for the old saying…. April Showers bring May flowers! At our house its been a very cold and rainy April. Non the less there is always work to do in the green house. Since our last meeting our mums have been potted up from 4 inch to 6 inch pots, we’ve culled our varieties to our “keepers” and the hardening off process has been stalled a bit due to the in-climate and lower than normal temperatures.
Now the plant care really begins and as you will see by the included cultural notes we have a lot of information to cover.
There is some good fertilizer information at the end of the cultural notes. take a look!
April Public Plant Sale
Again thank you to all the ECA plant sale volunteers. Your help was greatly appreciated. Our annual plant sale is the only ECA fund raising activity that we do. I don’t yet have the Public plant sale final cash sale total but we’ll have that number at our May meeting.
Welcome to our new ECA members.
Participation is the key to success.
Our membership looks forward to sharing our knowledge of and passion for growing and showing chrysanthemums with you.
Our next meeting will be Saturday, May 11th at 10 am at Volunteer Park Conservatory. We will be meeting in the Susan Priebe Education wing which is located right behind the seasonal house
Our monthly meetings are a great venue to learn from our experienced growers. I encourage you to bring your questions and share your growing experiences.
Over the next tow months we will have two very interesting cultural programs. At our may meeting Erika Harris will be demonstrating how to start and train Chrysanthemum cascades and Bonsais. In June Michael Boudreaux and Travis Edwards will update us on their Chrysanthemum hybridization efforts.
